Yahtahey Flea Market has been a gathering place for the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities since the 1970s. Every Saturday, hundreds of vendors and thousands of shoppers come together at the corner of Hwy 264 and US-491 — just as they have for over half a century.
Where It All Started
Yahtahey Flea Market began in the early 1970s as a simple gathering place — a spot along Highway 264 where people from the Navajo Nation and nearby communities could come together to trade, sell, and connect. What started as a handful of vendors on a dusty roadside has grown into one of the largest and longest-running outdoor markets in New Mexico.
The name "Yahtahey" comes from the Navajo greeting — a word of welcome that sets the tone for everything we do. From the very beginning, this market has been about more than buying and selling. It's about showing up for your neighbors, supporting local families, and keeping community traditions alive.
Decade after decade, through changing times and changing faces, the market has endured. The vendors who set up here aren't just running a business — many of them have been coming every Saturday for years, some for their entire adult lives. Their loyalty is what keeps Yahtahey going.

Situated at 15 Hwy 264 — the Navajo Code Talkers Highway — at the corner of US Hwy 491, Yahtahey sits at a crossroads that has seen generations of travelers, traders, and community members pass through.
Seven miles north of Gallup, NM, the market is easy to find and hard to miss. Look for the vendors, the cars, and the crowd. We're open every Saturday from 6:00 AM until the last vendor packs up and heads home.
